Nelson Mandela Day
On July 20th of 2019, we had an opportunity to talk about robotics to some young students at the Nelson Mandela Day. The team members of 1028Z originally met with the school principal to organize the robotics event. We played the game, hungry-hungry hippos, with our demonstration robots to introduce a simplified version of driving robots to complete a task of steering the balls towards a goal. Many children had lots of fun interacting with robots while enhancing their problem-solving skills.
BT robotics summer camp
Every year, our school, Brownell Talbot, hosts our BT Robotics Summer Camp where middle schoolers around the Omaha community can learn about the process of building a robot before building their own for a competition at the end of the camp. The camp is broken up into two sections: the Intro to Robotics Camp is the first week and the Advanced Robotics Camp is the second. It is amazing to witness the growth of the students’ skills and the way they are able to apply it to their own robots.
